Nowadays no one makes psych-rock like the Aussies do and adding to an already delightfully woozy melting pot, ‘Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ with their latest single “Keen For Kick Ons?” have returned with a fully charged psych-fuzz anthem that rips and roars like early Strokes; with a touch of glam rock swagger and harmony. This can perhaps be explained by frontman Jack McEwan, who says the track is a fond memory of “Those fruitful days working at a pub. I got fired for getting trollied at an open mic night trying to sing Queen”.

“Keen For Kick Ons?” is reminiscent of those kinds of nights, it struts along with a similar pace and recklessness of a night on the tiles whilst still showing off some sparkling harmonics similar to that of Queen (and others of that era). ‘Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ offer a rowdier alternative to the atypical drones and wobbles of psychedelia, swapping them for fuzzy, riff-driven melodies and rumbling basslines.
