Arctic Monkeys “was one of those gigs that I never wanted to end and hoped they’d just keep playing”, at Columbiahalle 22/5.

I got a bit impatient waiting for Arctic Monkeys to announce a UK Tour so I thought I’d go to Berlin to see them and then make a holiday of it. Im really glad I did as instead of the 20,000 capacity of the London o2 I got to see them in a much smaller venue with around 3,000 capacity and it was so worth it.

We got there late thanks to Citymapper and missed their opening song, Four out of Five. I walked in just as they started playing Do I Wanna Know, the crowd was electric, A lot of them had the same idea as me and were also from England too. They played a 20 song set, and played classics such as I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Cornerstone and R U Mine. They also played four other new songs, One Point Perspective, American Sports, She Looks Like Fun and You’re So Dark. At one point they played two of the new ones back to back and it prompted my friend to walk out to have a cigarette because she got bored, I have to admit the new songs did translate well live except for American Sports. It didn’t hold the crowd well at all and was well, a bit boring but they pulled it back with Arabella. Hits of the night for me were I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Brianstorm and Pretty Visitors the crowds went mental and there were some crazy moshpits.

I can’t describe how I felt watching this gig, I was buzzing from the atmosphere for the rest of the night and it felt so surreal. It was one of those gigs that I never wanted to end and hoped they’d just keep playing. I met someone the day after who was seeing them that night and was so jealous. I had a look at the setlist for the next night and it seems they switch it up each gig and the lucky buggers got to see The View From The Afternoon.

So all you kids who have tickets to see them are in for a massive treat.
