With Taylor Swift herself in tow, HAIM release reimagined Gasoline remix, fresh from ‘Women In Music Pt III’ deluxe edition.
Putting us to shame once again with their never-ending lockdown productivity, HAIM team up with Taylor Swift to deliver a brand new remix of their 2020 album track, ‘Gasoline’. Drenched in the same effortless style that runs throughout their critically-acclaimed third album, the track is groovy and buoyant, lyrically contemplating the complexities of a co-dependent relationship.
The welcome addition of Taylor Swift begins with her ferociously belting the lyric “I get sad!”, capturing the melancholy and cagey spirit of HAIM’s lockdown soundtrack. At the song’s bridge then comes a freshly-written batch of lyrics from Swift, as she tenderly chants, “Strike a match, strike a match, watch it blow”.
HAIM write on social media that “Since we released wimpiii in June, Taylor had always told us that gasoline was her favorite. So when we were thinking about ways to imagine some of the tracks, we immediately thought of her. She brought such amazing ideas and new imagery to the song and truly gave it a new life. Thank you @taylorswift for adding your incredible voice to a track that means so much to us.”
Notably, both HAIM and Swift are in the run-up to the 2020 Grammys where they’re nominated for the prestigious title of Album Of The Year, for ‘Women In Music Pt III’ and ‘folklore’ respectively.
This newly adorned edition of ‘Gasoline’ arrives as part of a full deluxe edition of HAIM’s ‘Women In Music Pt III’, also accompanied with a reworked version of their R&B banger ‘3AM’, now featuring Thundercat.
