Glaswegian singer-songwriter, Lizzie Reid has dropped her new song ‘Been Thinking About You’, which is to be featured on her upcoming debut EP ‘Cubicle’ released on February 10th via Seven Four Seven Six.
Reid’s songs are significant representations of the love, loss, intimacy, and grief that is encountered in the streets of Glasgow. Comparisons fall upon the likes of Big Thief’s Adrienne Lenker and Julia Jacklin but, with jazz undertones. The crescendo of the tremendous drums and monumental guitars creates a sound akin to that of Big Thief. She has also been likened to Angel Olsen, due to the slow-burning nature of her music.
The opulent ballad “is almost an appreciation song for a friend of mine” says Reid. She explains that “he was such a support for me at a time I wasn’t feeling my best. I was going through quite a confusing time and felt guilty that I couldn’t support him in the same way he supported me” – the track encapsulates, perfectly, the feeling of wanting to help somebody but, feeling constrained and helpless.
