A multilayered dreap-pop affair, NewDad release their brand new single ‘I Don’t Recognise You’
What a year 2020 has been for NewDad. The Galway foursome only emerged at the start of the year, and since then they have defied the strains of a music industry collapsing around us all by scoring support from Radio 1, Apple Music, and 6Music, where their previous single ‘Blue’ became the third most played track of 2020 on the acclaimed station.
Now they’re back with their fourth single ‘I Don’t Recognise You’, an altogether sonically more powerful track than their previous releases. It’s easy to hear how NewDad’s sound has developed even further since the release of ‘Blue’ as it’s instantly an even richer listening experience. The fuzzy, slacker rock guitars sound fuller and all-encompassing, and singer Julie Dawson’s vocals make for a blissful, multilayered dream-pop affair. According to the band, the recording of the track allowed them to experiment with different production techniques, and it truly seems as if they’ve settled into a method that suits them down to the ground.
‘I Don’t Recognise You’ is our first taste of NewDad’s debut EP ‘Waves’ which is set for release early next year. If this single’s anything to go by, we’re in for one heavenly listen in 2021.
