NewDad are in rampant form as they unleash their brand new single ‘Slowly’
The thriving four-piece from Galway, Ireland releases their first single of the year and that picks up fantastically from where they left us off in 2020. ‘Slowly’, produced by Chris Ryan, demonstrates the sound of NewDad which we are all come to know through their singles ‘Blue’ and ‘I Don’t Recognise You’.
‘Slowly’ evidently takes inspiration from shoegaze and dream pop that amplifies the pop hooks and Julies vocals combined with feedback-drenched guitars results in their most exhilarating and immediate track to date. Comparing to NewDad’s other singles, this is one of their most energetic songs and the whole song moves frantically around the drums.
According to the emerging band from Ireland, the song is about a person admitting their feelings for you with no follow-through, and the feelings of uncertainty that surround that. NewDad also acknowledges that despite the single being called ‘Slowly’, it is also one of the fastest and most difficult songs to play. This is something music fans, in general, should be excited to witness firsthand, when live music will hopefully be making a return sooner rather than later.
The single is taken from the band’s debut EP ‘Waves’, releasing on 26th March. This comes along with the aforementioned hits ‘I Don’t Recognise You’ and ‘Blue’, alongside ‘Drown’, ‘Hide’ and ‘Waves’.
