South-coast rockers Pioneers are set to release their brand new single ‘Say What You Want’
Four-piece indie-rockers Pioneers dabble in addictive riffs and fierce flicks of the guitar and raw vocals. Off the back of their last single ‘Feeling Blue’, the south-coast wonders are back with their energetic and perky new track ‘Say What You Want’.
‘Say What You Want’ is highly influenced by their love for The Strokes and The Libertines, which is evident in the bands’ sound, making them easily loveable and easy on the ears – the lyrics “you don’t need to impress me, so say what you want, I love the way that you talk” roll-off frontman Sam’s tongue as the jaunty beat engulfs him and the friendly sound of the electric guitar that is smooth but hard-hitting. ‘Say What You Want’ is infused with a drizzle of rock as the bridge is pulsating with zippy hooks.
“When writing ’Say What You Want’ I found myself listening to early 00’s indie, like The Strokes and Libertines for a while. I loved the simplicity of the tracks and how they hit you straight in the face, the drums and guitars were influenced specifically from this. The track itself is all about that first encounter with someone and being completely transfixed by them. The idea of ‘Say What You Want’ is to not overthink or act like someone you’re not. Say what you want as there will be no judgment, just be yourself.” Sam says.
