Glasgow garage-pop band Voodoos release their soaring new single ‘It’s Your Life’
One of Scotland’s hottest indie prospects, Voodoos are in superb form with their first single of the year ‘It’s Your Life’. This tune follows their last release for their E.P ‘What was That Supposed to Mean?’, which received fantastic reviews from fans and music critics.
As expected with Voodoos, the tune is rampant with high tempo guitars, ecstatic drums, and energetic vocals throughout. The track was produced by Tarek Musa, who was the frontman of indie rock band Spring King, and it harks back to the indie greats such as The Strokes and The Rakes whilst also having one foot firmly in the future.
Speaking about the single, frontman Piero Marcuccilli says that “the song is about growing up and growing apart from someone you were close to and how that could turn sour. You’re left wondering how things would be if you did something differently.”
Furthermore, Maccucculli describes the song as being “quite a sad song- almost like an anti-love song”; This is ironic due to the fact it was released on the Friday before Valentine’s day. The ironic parallel can also draw lines with the theme of the song being sad, whilst the frantic instrumentals suggesting the opposite.
This is an outstanding start of the year by the Glasgow Indie band and it will be interesting to see how they progress from this.
